Welcome,
This is the official portal of the working groups which are involved in the implementation of RIS Europe.
ERI Expert Group
The objective is to create an official platform that will draft and submit proposals to the Central Rhine Commission, the Danube Commission and , where applicable, to the European Commission, for formalisation. ERI is authorised to set up working agreements regarding the standardisation of reports to, from and between waterway managers, and to ensure the drafting, maintenance and use of harmonised reference tables for this purpose.
Moreover the ERI group will harmonise and coordinate developments regarding related exchange of information within other expert groups under RIS, such as notices to skippers, inland ECDIS, tracking & tracing. This coordination will encompass among others such items as codes and reference tables
After the INDRIS research and development study the European RIS Platform was established in which all participating waterway authorities are participating.
As such the ERI working group operates directly under the European RIS Platform and the RIS working group of the Central Rhine Commission. At this moment a formal RIS working group in the area of the Danube Commission is not in existence.
NTS Expert Group
The objective of the Notices to Skippers Expert Group is to adapt the Notices to Skippers standard to technical developments and the requirements of the users and to submit these proposals to the European Commission, the Central Commission for Navigation on the Rhine, the Danube Commission, the UN/ECE and other interested international organisations for formalisation. The Notices to Skippers Expert Group serves as independent international platform to ensure a harmonized development of the Notices to Skippers standard in the different international organisations.
The working group will support, advise and give input to the European RIS platform regarding a harmonized implementation of Notices to Skippers when requested and on its own initiative.
Every member state of an international organisation, which has adopted the Notices to Skippers Standard or is considering to adopt the standard, is entitled to send a delegation to the expert group. A delegation may consist of a head of delegation (representative of the competent authorities for the implementation of Notices to Skippers), official members e.g. from other governmental bodies and experts. All the members of a delegation should have expertise in the field of Notices to Skippers.
